Ahh. . . It's heaven down here occasionally.

A bit of a makeover.

Sorry for the changes if they disturbed you.  :)  The spring colors didn't exactly fit anymore!

Accidental Freak of Nature

I accidentally did this when I was randomly taking pictures of Corn Nut.  If nothing else, I would have to say it's interesting.  The entire camera screen was white except for his eyes.

Idealism V.S. Realism

If you've ever tried any kind of improvement on anything, you would probably know that it takes a long time.  A very long time.  With sometimes unexpected results.

Since we bought this property as a neglected wheat field, a lot of changes have been made.  But, unfortunately, we're not even halfway to where we want to be.  As every summer approaches, we make a gigantic list of things we need to get done on the farm during our free time.  Then summer actually does come and we get thrown into a churning mass of business, and forget all about it.

Guess what?  Now summer is over.  And we are beginning a very big list of things to get done as soon as possible (which probably won't come very soon).  Here are just a few things in our idealistic farm dream:

~The fields would be fenced so that our goats could graze happily about in a way that Joel Salatin's animals do on beautiful, healthy forage.

~The current goat fence would be fixed so that we don't have to worry about getting calls from distant neighbors right before mutual (a story for tomorrow).

~The chicken coop would have a wooden or concrete floor so that we wouldn't have to worry about skunks getting in and eating 2 dozen eggs a night.  We killed another one today so we're going on seven.

~The buck would be separated from the does, and the babies would be separated from their mamas.

~ The driveway would be clear of chicken dung.

~And the lawn would be healthy. . .

Wish us luck with our fantasies!

The many moods of Corn Nut

Careless.

GOOFY.

Contemplative.

Sad. . .

Frustrated.

And pleading.
