Fat Cavity

Okay- First of all, I'm sorry about the horrible pictures.  The big momma is in a box at the moment and it's dark in there- so I had to use the flash and the light reflected off of the straw.

Recently Macavity could only be seen either lazing around in the sun or desperately trying to waddle to her next resting spot, somehow supporting her extensive belly with a diameter of about ten inches.  Wow- she was FAT!

Fortunately, yesterday that changed.  We got home from school to find a pleasant surprise.

SEVEN baby kittens, all nestled up in their box with the proud momma.

I'm glad she's finally got something to do!  And she's an amazing mom, too.

With Darling children.

Goat Kidding 2009- Part 2

The second kidding of the year went beautifully.  The momma, Kyra, usually has a hard time, but luckily we were there and helped out a little and everything went well.  She had two beautiful little baby does on Saturday, April 18th.

It's hilarious.  She's kind-of a scrub, but she always raises these kids that almost shine they're so amazing.  :)   Aren't they darling?

This is Nellie

And this is Rosie.

What a cutie pie!

So now we have two batches of kids in the barn.
Stay tuned for round three. . . .

Goat Kidding 2009- Part 1

FINALLY!
Baby goats around this place have finally decided to honor us with their presence.  Since this first batch was six days late, we were all in great anticipation.

Maggie, our leader of the pack, had kids on Thursday, April 16th, at about 8:10 p.m.  First came a beautiful little girl which we decided to call Jenny, because when she was born she looked exactly like a donkey.  Gray face, white muzzle, white around the eyes.  She was SOOO cute.

Second came a little boy which we called Jack, just because a girl donkey is called a Jenny and a boy one is a Jack- so there we were.  Jack has the cutest pick nose- which is rare in goats.  They are hilarious.  They run around, butting heads and jumping up in the air, doing little twirly things.  And both of them are very friendly.

Well- so far so good.
Stay tuned for round two.
