Wow!

I can't believe how old I'm getting!  My birthday was this last week. 

This birthday I got a bunch of animal-related "equipment."  Corn Nut picked out these neon goat brushes especially for me and then spent the rest of the day playing with them himself.  :) And then I got this pig book from Almond Joy, my mom, because I'm doing a pig this year for 

4-H.  Oh joy.

And this is my favorite.  My mom forgot to get candles- so we decided to rely on a giant match instead.  I couldn't help laughing!  Oh- and speaking of odd, my parents got water balloons accidentally.  My poor dad had to spend half the morning trying to blow them up, then they only turned out about the size of a golf ball.  It was great.  I think the strange things just make it more memorable.

I don't have any pictures, but I'd just like to inform you all that I got contacts today!  What a relief. . . as Corn Nut would say!

Commenting Trouble

I guess just about everyone is having trouble commenting on my blog.  I seriously have no clue how to fix this though.  If anyone knows, I wish you could comment and tell me how to fix the comment thing :) but maybe I'll just have to figure it out since I've basically lost communication.  Ugh.

Almond Joy (My Mom) was down in Utah recently and found the cutest shoes!  I feel very honored to be able to be the one she gave them to!  I absolutely adore them, so I had to do a post on them.  Enjoy.

What Gun Bans do to People

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From
1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves,
were rounded
up and exterminated.

1.5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
--------------------------- Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to
1945, a total
of 13 mil lion Jews and others who were unable to defend
themselves were
rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------ China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952,
20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were
rounded up and
exterminated.

percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned
them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!


While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in
armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically
upward in the
past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that
their prey is
unarmed.



There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and
assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain
how public
safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and
expense was
expended in successfully ridding Australian society of
guns. The
Australian experience and the other historical facts above
prove it.

You won't see this data on th e US evening news, or
hear politicians
disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and
property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding
citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please
remind him
of this history lesson.

Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had

1925-28. Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor
& our Army had
been deprived of funding & was ill prepared to defend
the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up
the Pearl
Harbor attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his
reply was that
he had lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all
households had guns.

In a Different Light. . .

On Christmas Eve, we went on a drive to see the Christmas lights and I decided to use a picture-taking technique that I learned in a Young Women's meeting.  Here are the results. 

Scroll down to figure out how to do this on any camera.  

Okay, to get results like this, you have to find a light like a traffic one, or Christmas lights like I used here, but it just has to be very dark with a few lights.  

Set your camera to a really slow exposure.  On my camera, I used a setting called "Fireworks," because I couldn't find how to change the exposure.  

Now point your camera toward the light and push the button halfway down to let it focus.  

When you're ready, push the button down to take the picture.

Once the button is pushed, move your camera all over the place and shake it, or move it in whatever pattern you want to do.  If you want a specific pattern, it's best if there's only one light to work with.  

Keep shaking it and squiggling it until it's done taking the picture.  You usually end up with something really cool.  

If you're doing a specific pattern, let's say you're doing a star, keep moving the camera in that shape until the camera's done, trying to stay on the same lines.  

Painting with light can be a blast!  Hope you have fun with it, too.

Fight FOCA

FOCA, or the Freedom of Choice Act is a bill that, if it is passed, would stop all laws limiting abortion.  Go to Chocolate on My Cranium for an in-depth description of it, but basically, it makes it that religious hospitals don't have a choice whether to do abortions or not, and a bunch of other stuff.  I am strongly opposed to this.  Go to Fight FOCA to sign the petition against this act, and for more information on it and other links, go here.
