Put a Name on That Picture

The expression on Topaz's face is cracking me up. What would you call this picture?

The Chicken Conspiracy

This is our rooster.
His name is {something} (suggestions anyone?)
For now I will call him Percy. I've been watching the Scarlet Pimpernel. :)

Our little friend here is in the garage. He shouldn't be here.

He should be here.

More precisely, here. See the mud? That means "chickens belong here."

Instead, he is here.

And here.

And here.

About now is where a time lapse happens. I pick up the above rake and chase the rooster with it, knowing the situation to be hopeless. He will never on his life cross the long snowy yard to the chicken coop. I half-heartedly shoo him along.

Then. . .

He takes a running start and flies.

FLIES.

Across the entire yard in one try.

I gape.

I follow him.

At this point I am wondering if the whole thing of chickens acting dumb is just a conspiracy. A conspiracy to make me work harder.

*End of time lapse*
I walk into the chicken coop and this is the first thing I see.

Ha!

But here he is, innocently eating the food I recently placed on peril of death.

Who knew anything happened? He was here the whole time.

Oh and by the way. . .

Don't leave eggs in freezing temperatures overnight.
They burst out of the shell and freeze there.
It's not a pretty picture.

Just trying to add inspirational advice to your life,

On a Walk

The sun gets lower in the sky as me and Mom turn the corner up the snowy hill. We breathe in the fresh, cold air and gape in awe at the golden sunlight as we walk.

I turn to look back and see the trail breaking off from the road. Civilization wanes as we continue our trek up the hill.

The dry sagebrush, yellow grass, white snow, and rolling hills seem never-ending. This is freedom.
Jack adventures ahead of us as we continue on.
He explores and sniffs, following tracks in the snow.
The sun casts shadows in it's last magnificent burst of light before disappearing into the distance.

Mom is pretty.

Jack is happy.

The landscape is breath-taking.

And the road is long.

Corn Nut + Camera = ?

Recently, after getting this new camera, I have learned a life secret that I never would have thought of before-
Cameras help you "win friends and influence people!"
Thank you for the applause.

****

Hello?

****

Well, okay. . . . Maybe just win friends?

****

Strengthen friendships?

****

One last shot. . . Maybe. . .
Have amazing pictures show up on your camera because your younger brother {Corn Nut} got a hold of your camera and took a bunch of random pictures with it that add color to your life?

*ROARING APPLAUSE*

Yup. That's how you make your life happy and fulfilled, folks.

Here's the last new discoveries I've found:

Random.

Randomer.

Random (and cute).

And pretty much amazing.
Who said it was fair to have your younger brother be a better photographer than you?
Not me.

Blog Changes

Just to warn any of you out there-
I'll be messing around with my blog for the next few days, so if it acts, looks, or is extremely odd in the future, I'm apologizing in advance.

{As you can see, I've already changed my signature}

Bombarded!

For the past few days that the snow has actually started falling, this has been the situation at the farm:

Yesterday it hit full force, as it was new year's eve, family was still up from Christmas, and cousins wanted to play in the snow. Soon everyone in the vicinity became subject to snowballs whirling everywhere- any kid's definition of fun, right??

There was scuffling,

Whitewashing,

And then. . . came Dan.

Snowball in hand.

Right towards me- the most innocent bystander of them all.

He took aim at my feet, then threw snow everywhere.

Luckily, he missed.

But he was not to be deterred.

No way.
Soon, he hit his mark.

And seemed pleased about it, too. (Darn kid :) )
Never mind. He's too cute for me to be mad.
